Nine Essential Thoughts *

PETA says humans are no better than animals and that animals are the same as people. Then they continue, claiming that they themselves are better than people, who are, in fact, no better than animals.

Every life is precious, but not every life is necessary. Fortunately, they pass. They need not pass unpleasantly.

Money is not wealth. It is only marks in clay to record labors. Wealth can not be gained, bought, sold, or traded unless it bears the mark of real work, either of the hand or of the brow. By itself, money accomplishes nothing.

Taxes upon commerce harm economic welfare. A healthy economy can bear taxation only if it serves prosperity. Any tax on commerce otherwise taxes most those who can afford it least.

Accumulations of money dwindle if held. It must be spent in enabling labor to increase real wealth for a return if it is to be maintained or increased.

Political power grows from the consent of the governed. Consent may be obtained by force, by falsehood or by free choice.

Mathematically, based solely on the odds, the existence of mankind is eliminated as a serious probability. Go Cubs!

When God speaks to fools, they become prophets to the masses. They bring the wisdom addressed to a fool to any who will listen. This is how social movements, blogs and billiards games start.

In navigating the course of history, I should rather have Samuel Clemens at the helm of my ship of state than Abraham Lincoln. In plowing up a new course of history in the banks of the old through expenditure of progress, however, I suppose it hardly matters what Captain Crunch takes you aground.

Well, the thoughts have independent existence, really, but the grime is mine.
